The city of Baton Rouge reached a settlement with DeRay Mckesson and other protesters who demonstrated following the police killing of Alton Sterling. This resolution acknowledged the rights of citizens to protest against police violence and addressed the grievances of those who were wrongfully arrested during the demonstrations. This is one of the first successful class action lawsuits filed by protestors during this decade.
